The plant decommissioning and asset recovery division of G.A. Rittenhouse’s furnace operations. Equipment we recover that cannot be re-sold is melted into new metal — which is why we can price work other contractors walk away from.

Equipment and plant we clear

Yards carry an unusual mix: very heavy fixed plant, a fabrication shop full of resaleable machine tools, and more bronze and copper than most people expect. Our first liquidation was a marine diesel operation, so this is familiar ground.

Dry dock and berth plant

Caissons, pumps, dock gates and shore services.

Cranes and lifting

Gantry, jib and mobile cranes, hoists and transporters.

Fabrication shop

Plate rolls, presses, shears, burning tables, welding plant and machine tools — the strongest resale category in a yard.

Marine engines and drives

Propulsion and auxiliary engines, gearboxes, shafting and propellers. Propellers in particular are high-value non-ferrous.

Non-ferrous recovery

Bronze, brass and copper off fittings, bearings, valves and props. Melted in-house.

Waterfront logistics

Barge and heavy haul where road access will not carry the load.

What the work looks like

Yard structures stripped for recovery
Fabrication shop equipment inventoried

Three things decide the number

What resells versus what melts

Equipment with a working second life is worth more running than poured, and we will tell you which is which rather than quietly melting the difference. Why that gap is so wide.

Metal content

We own the furnaces, so recovered metal has a floor price we can quote on the day instead of after finding a buyer. How the melt side works.

Removal and freight

Rigging, hauling and permits are ours. On remote or constrained sites this decides more of the economics than the equipment does.

We work across heavy industry

Most closures cut across more than one of these. All industries we serve.
